Ancestor
When I was a girl, my father visited libraries and used book stores in every town we visited. He'd search historic books for Commodore Robert Field Stockton, a famous ancestor.
In 1989, I offered to organize his research. I had moved to Colorado with my husband and dog, and was not working or going to school for the first time in my life.
I'll never forget the day, Robert, or Bobby, his horse and buggy raced out of the control down Stockton Street in 1809 Princeton, New Jersey, and headed straight off the computer screen and into my life. The joy of that creative magic continues to thrill me today.
